In 2024, Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg turned heads with his newfound flair. Whether it’s the onset of his 40s, the vibrancy of the new decade, or joining the elite $200 billion club, he seems to have kicked his former minimalist lifestyle to the curb. The world is watching as the Facebook founder embraces a more stylish and vibrant persona, finally spending the hard-earned fortune he once reserved. Below are events showcasing Zuckerberg’s transformation, a story for the ages.
A 388 feet long superyacht, and then some-
Zuckerberg splurged $300 million on a superyacht named Launchpad, followed by another $30 million for a support vessel, Wingman, where he celebrated his 40th birthday and Father’s Day. In a rare display of openness, he and his wife Priscilla Chan, shared glimpses of a lavish celebration, complete with scenes recreated from Zuckerberg’s teenage bedroom, college dorm, and Facebook’s first office.
A reinvented style-
In March, Zuckerberg attended Anant Ambani’s pre-wedding festivities, trading his signature gray tees for Alexander McQueen and striking prints inspired by India’s Sundarbans tiger, by ace Indian designer Rahul Mishra. He revealed on the Acquired podcast that he’s now designing t-shirts featuring his favorite classical sayings, created in partnership with Los Angeles fashion designer Mike Amiri.
This new wardrobe reflects a creative side he’s keen to share with the world. The centibillionaire shared, “I’ve kind of started working on this series of shirts with some of my favorite classical sayings on them.” The addition of thick gold necklaces acts like an icing on the cake.
Splendid timepieces-
After the Ambani wedding, the fourth richest man in the world caught the watch bug, indulging in a $141,000 Patek Philippe and a $90,000 De Bethune Starry Varius, a stark departure from his typical low-key choices like the now-discontinued $500 Garmin Forerunner 945.
Not just superyachts, but also some spectacular cars-
The Facebook founder took to Instagram to introduce a stretched Porsche Cayenne SUV, which he claims to have designed himself. To pamper Priscilla Chan with the minivan she desired, Zuckerberg decided to take matters into his own hands and build one.
The power couple now flaunts two customized Porsches, modified by West Coast Customs, one sportier model for him and a minivan for Priscilla. Each car, valued at over $200,000 (excluding customization), embodies their unique tastes.
While Zuckerberg now takes to the road in a custom Porsche 911 GT3, valued at $250,000 plus customization. It churns out 518 bhp and can accelerate the Meta CEO from 0 to 62 mph in under 3.5 seconds. Not too long ago, however, he was driving an $18,000 Honda Fit, despite being worth billions.
Hawaiian Homes and Roman Statue-
Zuckerberg is building an expansive compound in Hawaii, featuring multiple mansions, an underground bunker, a village, and 11 tree houses connected by rope bridges. He’s also commissioning a colossal Roman-inspired sculpture of Priscilla by Daniel Arsham, a fitting tribute from a man worth $204 billion.
In 2010, Zuckerberg and Chan signed the Giving Pledge, committing to donate at least half their wealth. Perhaps this is Zuckerberg’s way of enjoying his success before giving it away, proving there’s nothing more inspiring than a life well-lived. Saving or investing alone doesn’t foot the bill for this tech titan’s dreams.
Note – At the time of writing this article, according to Forbes, Mark Zuckerberg has a net worth of $201.3 billion.
