Nita Ambani, wife of Asia’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani, with $111 billion, is a force of nature, a beacon of beauty and philanthropy. With the establishment of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC), this trailblazer, with the most coveted Hermès handbags in one hand and the poshest watches on the other, placed India’s art, theater, and heritage on a global scale. Speaking of watches, at the launch of the iconic “The Phantom of the Opera,” a musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber at the NMACC, the 60-year-old businesswoman added another feather to her cultural cap.

Still, it is not the event or the show that captivated us, but this mega-rich matriarch and her choice of wristwear that matched her incredible Indian ensemble to a T (in the color of the year, Mocha Mousse, no less).

Ambani sported The Nautilus Haute Joaillerie 7118/1450R, a spectacular yellow-gold creation with a diamond-paved dial, gold-applied hour markers, and numerals filled with luminescent coating. Even more dazzling than the dial is the iced-out bracelet, paved with diamonds and a Nautilus fold-over clasp.

In all, this horological masterpiece is studded with a total of 2,364 diamonds, internally flawless Top Wesselton, weighing 11.63 carats. That justifies why this timepiece costs upwards of $430,000, and it is unsurprisingly not the only Patek Philippe gem owned by the owner of the Mumbai Indians, one of the most successful teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The mother of three sported a stunning Patek Philippe Aquanaut Luce Haute Joaillerie watch at a Mumbai Indians sporting event.

At the Indian Premier League auction held in Jeddah, Nita turned heads with her avatar that involved a $125,000 white gold Rolex adorned with dozens of diamonds and sapphires. Still, my personal favorite is her gorgeous $360,000 Jacob & Co. Fleurs de Jardin with pink sapphires that she has worn on more than one occasion; perhaps it is her favorite too!

An iconic production at an iconic location —

“The Phantom of the Opera,” the longest-running show in Broadway history, celebrated its 10,000th performance over a decade ago in 2012 (becoming the first Broadway production in history to do so), but its Indian premiere will occur in 2025, thanks to Nita Ambani.

NMACC

Rightfully dubbed an ambassador for India’s cultural heritage and closely associated with the arts, dance, and classical music, she celebrated the second anniversary of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC), inaugurated on March 31, 2023, with utmost flair. The center has hosted Broadway musicals like “The Sound of Music,” “Mamma Mia,” and now the 1986 production. With total estimated worldwide gross receipts of over $6 billion and total Broadway gross of over $1 billion.
