The front-mounted, water-cooled V8 engine in the Porsche 928 saved Porsche, now someone has saved a junk motor and turned it into a Porsche Pink Pig-themed coffee table

If you’ve always wanted a Porsche V8 but don’t quite have the risk appetite to spring for an older Porsche 928, Cayenne S or the like, this coffee table may be right up your alley. Listed for sale on Bring a Trailer for no reserve, this is one coffee table that may be greater than the sum of its parts.

Even though it is missing all its internal components, this Porsche M28 V8 from a Porsche 928 is climbing in price. At last count, this motorsport-themed coffee table had crossed the $3,000 mark. In case you’re wondering, the Pink Pig theme is one of motorsport’s most recognisable liveries, raced on a variant of the legendary Porsche 917 at the 1971 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The entire engine block, valve covers and intake manifold are finished in the same shade of flesh pink as the Porsche 917 was. The dotted lines and callouts are meant to mimic a butcher’s cuts.

The inside joke was that when the Porsche 917 debuted, with its short, stubby front lip, it reminded people of the snout of a pig. Which is where the Pink Pig livery was born from. Sitting on caster wheels and weighing around 100 pounds, the tabletop is a sheet of glass supported by four padded metal posts.

The Porsche Pink Pig

The coffee table is topped with the Pink Pig racer’s #23 starting number and is a fitting tribute to perhaps the best motorsport livery out there, even if it wasn’t the winningest livery with just one outing.
