It’s not often that we come across anything new or particularly exciting in the traditional world of men’s footwear, but Berluti certainly surprised us with their collaboration with Ferrari. Together the two brands have created a limited edition footwear line that draws inspiration from the Ferrari Monza SP1 and Monza SP2. The collection includes three shoe styles: a slip-on, an Oxford and a Chelsea boot.
Each style boasts a smooth, fluid shape, but the relatively non-traditional closures and ultra-lightweight soles give them an updated look. If you look closely, you’ll find that the backs of the shoes, feature the familiar Prancing Horse logo from Ferrari as well as a sharply contrasting red piping detail on the heel. The special soles were created by Ferrari using Twill 2×2 carbon-fiber, a material also found in Ferrari cars.
“These are the lightest shoes that Berluti has done ever. These are shoes which have real technology in them, with carbon fiber that is used for cars for driving. It’s a very special grip that you have on the sole and this is taking inspiration from the engine,” said John Elkann, Chairman of Ferrari, “The idea is really to try and capture what was the gentleman driver back in the Sixties,” he added.
The Limited Edition Ferrari x Berluti collection will be available in select Berluti stores and online come November.
