Gucci has chosen Westminster Abbey to showcase their next Cruise collection fashion show. The decision may be a head scratcher for some, but truth be told, the building has a long history of stylish moments (the Queen’s coronation in 1953, and more recently the chic wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge), so it’s no surprise that Gucci selected this historic building to host their anticipated show. This will be the first time that any fashion brand has held a show at Westminster Abbey.
The show is all set to take place in the Abbey’s Cloisters on 2nd June this year and will be a showcase for new designs by Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele. He told the Telegraph that the idea of showing at the Abbey was magical. “London is always on my mind and in my memories. I’m obsessed with British culture, past and present. To be able to show the collection inside the Cloisters in Westminster Abbey …” Michele said.
