When sports and haute couture meet, the Malle Vestiaire is born. The one-of-a-kind wardrobe trunk results from a new collaboration with All Blacks legend Dan Carter. The black beauty for House Ambassador Dan Carter features heritage details with a contemporary flair, and the trunk envelopes the rugby legend’s precious mementos. It is a handsome testimony of Carter’s legacy in the world of rugby and Louis Vuitton’s as a longstanding luxury brand. Carter worked with artisans at the Maison’s famed workshops to bring to life this bespoke trunk, crafted to hold precious sports equipment and memorabilia.
The black and silver monogram-covered trunk features classic closures and rivets. The all-black exterior is a nod to the New Zealand national team, the All Blacks. Logo references honor the sportsman’s illustrious career, from DC10, his player number, to 1598 points scored in international rugby.
“I was very lucky to work alongside Vuitton to design this truck. They took on a lot of my feedback about the design, size, and but most importantly, the different compartments to display the sports equipment,” explained Carter. A peek inside revealed mind blowing details like three World Rugby Player of the Year awards, three Rugby World Cup medals, his caps, three jerseys, and his pair of “retirement” boots along with another pair worn during a Rugby World Cup.
In addition to sports memorabilia, the trunk encloses copies of his book, The Art of Winning, and the Louis Vuitton rugby ball he created in 2019. “This Malle Vestiaire holds all the memorabilia that symbolize the amazing memories I have of playing professional rugby while also paying tribute to Louis Vuitton’s renowned Art of Travel,” said Carter in a statement. “I really can’t think of a better way for them to be displayed than in this beautiful trunk.” The Malle Vestiaire is available for $150,000 on Louis Vuitton’s official website.
