Louis Vuitton set to impress at Art Basel Miami Beach with Frank Gehry’s limited-edition handbag collection

Louis Vuitton is coming to Art Basel Miami Beach with a bang, owing to a partnership with renowned architect Frank Gehry. The famous Canadian-American is working his magic on the Maison yet again with a specially designed booth packed with his exceptional works, wrapped in LV’s trademark aesthetic. Paying homage to his wood and cardboard models, an imperative part of Gehry’s design process, are four themes – Architecture and Form, Material Exploration, Animals, and his Twisted Box creation for “Celebrating Monogram.”

The Louis Vuitton x Frank Gehry collaboration will unveil a limited-edition handbag collection to the world. The capsule includes designs based on the Maison’s iconic Capucines bags, the Twisted Box Trunk, and a remarkable Bear With Us Clutch based on Gehry’s Bear with Us sculpture.

The first to catch our eye was the Capucines Mini Blossom, which looked magical with glass-like resin petals inspired by perfume bottles. It features the hammered LV that takes you back to the iconic building, Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris.

The Capucines MM Floating Fish are reminiscent of the piscine lamps on display at the LV headquarters, and the Capucines MM Concrete Pockets steal the show with striking 3D cement-effect screen printing, akin to Frank Gehry’s constructions. The Frank Gehry charm extends to LV’s Les Extraits perfume bottles and their unique stoppers, handcrafted in Murano, Italy, a selection of sketches and models, and maquettes for the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris. Louis Vuitton will be present at Art Basel Miami Beach from 8th to 10th December 2023.
