This limited edition $36,000 office chair by Embraer pays tribute to F1 legend Ayrton Senna. It is crafted out of aerospace-grade aluminum and carbon fiber and features a unique articulation mechanism

Attention all hardcore F1 fans! If you’ve been looking for the perfect Christmas present for yourself, you might want to have a look at this beauty. This wicked-looking limited-edition office chair pays tribute to one of the greatest Formula One drivers of all time – the one and only Ayrton Senna. Called the Senna Cockpit, this high-tech chair has been created by Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer Executive Jets in collaboration with Senna Brands and Metalcrafters Transparencies and Composites, Inc. (MTCcorp)— a leading name in the aerospace industry for machining and fabrication. The limited edition chair took two years to develop and captures Senna’s passion for the pursuit of excellence.

The Senna Cockpit has been designed and engineered by the Embraer Executive Jets Interior Design Team, while it is manufactured by MTCcorp. Its design and construction incorporate the perfect blend of aerospace technology, automotive interior design, and properly engineered ergonomics. To make it as light as possible without compromising the integrity of the design, the limited edition office chair is crafted out of 061-T6 machined aluminum and graphene-reinforced carbon fiber.

One of the highlights of the design is how the chair rotates 360 degrees or moves from front to back or side to side. It almost appears to float on its base, defying gravity. The mechanism is based on what is used for the seats on the Embraer Phenom 300E business jet.

The design of the chair mimics the cockpit of a modern F1 race car. While the seat is wrapped in 100% full-grain leather, the billet-aluminum parts are anodized in black or champagne gold, giving the Senna cockpit a very sporty but premium look. Furthermore, gold-accent stitching is inspired by the paint of Senna’s 1986 Grand Prix victory car. Finally, a champagne-gold anodized bar at the back of the seat is engraved with “DRIVE YOUR TRUTH,” while each chair is individually numbered. Only 22 units of the Senna Cockpit will be sold as a reference to June 22, 1986, the date of Senna’s first Grand Prix victory. If you want one, be ready to shell out $36,000. A portion of each sale will be donated to the Ayrton Senna Foundation, which supports education programs in Brazil.
