From the hustle-bustle of Times Square to the art deco buildings of Manhattan, New York is one of my most preferred holiday destinations. Given the plethora of hotels dotting the streets, it’s rather difficult to select one in particular; but the iconic Plaza Hotel New York has always topped my list.
With a history dating back to 1907, the luxurious hotel has transformed into a timeless landmark over the years. More importantly since its conception, the hotel has played host to prominent personalities; from Zelda Fitzgerald to the Kennedy family.
From the 282 rooms and suites that the hotel encompasses, the Penthouse One Bedroom Suite King is my personal favourite. Perched on the 20th floor, the sprawling 1,500 sq ft dual-level penthouse has been designed by Alexandra Champalimaud. Her awe-inspiring style can be seen in the vivid, yet stylish interiors of the suite.
The inviting upper level entails a colossal master bedroom and furnished terrace along with a spacious living room and study/guest room on the lower level. A myriad of artworks and rich fabrics adorn the suite while dramatic lighting further enhances the ambience. Elements in the suite include large wood-panelled luxury closets with built-in drawers and storage while beautiful mosaic floors and walls with a gilded floral motif decorate the bathroom. White glove butler service is provided to all guests of the suite.
