The vegan trend has literally left me spellbound. From vegan cafes and restaurants cropping up on the scene every week, and now UK-based food and design studio Bompas & Parr has unveiled London’s first ever ‘vegan’ hotel suite.
The vision is clear. Veganism goes well beyond dining.
Crafted from solely plant-based materials, the suite is nestled inside the 5-star Hilton Bankside Hotel in London. The standard assortment of material that would prevail in any hotel room is absent, from leather and wool to feather and anything non-vegan.
Pinatex – vegan-friendly fruit leather has finally made its debut on the hospitality landscape. The suite, which features a large bedroom, sitting area and bathroom utilises the ingredient.
The design has been thought through, and everything from cotton carpets and footstools to scatter cushions and the headboard has been made from the animal-friendly product. Feather pillows have been replaced with a choice of buckwheat or millet hulls, kapok or bamboo and the entire selection of toiletries, snacks, drinks and cleaning products are 100% free of animal products, too.
