Attention, all James Bond fans! This could be the perfect collectible for your Bond collection. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the iconic movie Goldfinger, renowned UK-based scale model creators Agora Models have come up with a limited edition 24-karat gold plated model of the legendary Aston Martin DB5. Limited to just seven examples, the gilded 1:8 scale model will go on sale on October 5 as a tribute to James Bond Day. It was on October 5, 1962, when the first 007 movie, Dr. No, was released. It was made in collaboration with the creators of 007 films, Eon Productions, and Aston Martin.
The gold scale model captures even the smallest detail of James Bond’s DB5 with utmost perfection. It features miniaturized versions of most gadgets that made the original Bond car uber-cool, including a working ejection seat, revolving number plate, and even a bulletproof shield.
The model also gets machine guns that pop out from behind the lights and make firing gun sound effects, along with oil-slick jets that extend from behind the taillights. Everything from the bodywork to the hood, fuel cap, ejection seat roof panel, and the edge of the bulletproof shield are plated in 24-karat gold.
The gold plating was done by hand at the St Paul’s Mint in the UK. The scale model weighs around 15 pounds and contains roughly 500 parts. All seven units will be individually numbered from 001 to 007 and have a certificate of authenticity. All the models will also be offered with a protective display case and a limited-edition plaque. As far as the pricing is concerned, the gold-plated scale model is not cheap. Each one will cost 24,999 GBP (around $33,000). While orders can be placed starting October 5, Agora says the deliveries will begin by the summer of 2025.
