If you have a penchant for collecting odd and rare collectibles and have $2,999 to spare, WETA Workshop is offering a life-size statue of the most iconic creature from The Lord Of The Rings movie trilogy, Gollum. A perfect gift for Geeks, the statue is about 3 ft 6 inches tall. Crouching on a rock with a fish in hand, the statue reaches a height of approx 140 cm and weighs 66 lbs. The 1:1 scale Gollum statue is a prototype that was sculpted out of fiberglass by WETA Workshop sculptors Ben Hawker and Bill Hunt and created by the same artists at WETA Workshop who worked on The Lord of the Rings.
This made-to-order Lord of the Ring memorabilia comes with a rather steep price tag of $2,999, which excludes the cost of shipping and taxes, but given the fact that each of these will be handcrafted and painted, the price looks justified. The company plans to make a limited number of pieces in production and can be ordered only on the deposit of $500 in advance. WETA will start delivering it from March/April 2014 onwards.
