Karl Lagerfeld’s cat Choupette purrs her self to greater fame in the new Shu Uemura campaign

It may be holiday season. But it’s also the season for a holiday makeup collection campaign! And while Shu Uemura may have decided to launch one and get Karl Lagerfeld to photograph it, guess who’s the star of it all? The multi-faceted fashion designer’s cat Choupette! All the more reason to await the range, entitled Shupette by Karl Lagerfeld for Shu Uemura, isn’t it?

shupette-2The high maintenance kitty has long been causing quite the flurry in the fashion business. Just last year, she lent her charm to a capsule collection. So only few would be surprised to learn of Shu Uemura coveting the feline princess next. The Japanese beauty brand has roped in the snow-white Siamese for a collection that will be unveiled later this fall, and will feature fun items like furry false lashes and “claw” polishes.

shupette-3“I thought she was too cute. She is like a kept woman. She has a strong personality. She has lunch and dinner with me on the table, with her own food,” Karl Lagerfeld had said after falling for the kitty in 2011 and not wanting to give her back model Baptiste Giabiconi, who of course, relented. And that only explains that he himself shot the Shupette (Shu Uemura + Choupette = Cuteness!) campaign. We can’t wait to see what Choupette’s ads will look like but for now, above is a sketch of the kitty by daddy Lagerfeld.
