Great food and fast cars are a pairing made in culinary heaven, at least for the well-heeled. Luxury resort La Réserve in Knokke-Heist, Belgium, is putting this knowledge to good use, thanks to a partnership with D’Ieteren Luxury Performance, a high-end automobile dealership.
The result is a chance to dine at Michelin-starred chef Nick Bril’s latest restaurant on the roof of the La Réserve, while feasting your eyes on the Bentley Continental GTC Black Edition, which was hoisted up to the balcony six floors up. The tasting menu here can cost upwards of $420 per person. The Bentley is arguably better suited to those with richer tastes, considering it wears a mouth-watering price tag of $420,000.
This isn’t the first time a luxury automobile has been air-lifted or hoisted up several floors to be admired in a surreal setting. That doesn’t make it any less special, though. The limited-edition Continental GTC Black Edition combines the visual impact of the Blackline specification with a 680 PS powertrain. It features unique gloss black ‘Winged B’ badges and the convertible does look at home several stories up.
As far as marketing stunts go, this one has had the right effect. Chef Nick Bril recently closed his two-Michelin-starred restaurant The Jane in Antwerp and launched Celestial as his new venture within La Réserve’s penthouse setting. The restaurant offers an exclusive tasting menu, with only three lunches and four dinners served weekly. This atmosphere of exclusivity mirrors the Bentley’s limited-edition status.
This move exemplifies how luxury hotels use marketing to differentiate themselves in the competitive world of high-end hospitality. La Réserve, owned by real estate magnate Bart Versluys and entrepreneur Marc Coucke, has established itself as a destination where experiences matter as much as amenities. The sight of a limited-edition supercar suspended above the Belgian coast while diners enjoy Michelin-starred cuisine below creates an Instagram-worthy moment that will keep guests coming back for more.
