When Brabus and Sunreef Yachts announced their partnership in 2024, the collaboration promised to merge the German performance brand’s unmistakable design language with one of the world’s leading luxury catamaran builders. That vision has now materialized in the form of the Brabus Ultima 55, a striking high-performance catamaran that aims to blend speed, engineering and luxury into a single package.
The unveiling also comes just a few weeks after Brabus revealed another major expansion of its marine ambitions through a partnership with Italian builder AB Yachts, part of the Next Yacht Group, signaling that the company is rapidly broadening its presence beyond the automotive world.
Measuring 55.8 feet (17 meters) in length with a beam of 18.4 feet (5.6 meters), the Brabus Ultima 55 has been developed to deliver the stability and generous living space expected from a multihull while offering handling characteristics closer to those of a modern performance monohull. A pair of six-cylinder engines, each producing 725 horsepower, propel the yacht to speeds exceeding 40 knots, placing it among the fastest luxury catamarans in its class.
One of its most important innovations is an advanced hydrofoil system that lifts the hulls higher above the water as speed increases. By reducing hydrodynamic drag and virtually eliminating heel, the foils improve efficiency while delivering a smoother, quieter, and more stable ride. The sensation is designed to feel less like conventional cruising and more like gliding above the water.
The exterior unmistakably reflects Brabus’ design philosophy. Exposed carbon-fiber elements appear throughout the yacht, including the front and rear wings, roof rack, ventilation trims and LED roof lights. Illuminated Brabus logos add a distinctive touch, while buyers can choose between a Graphite Black finish or an optional Phantom Gray exterior. Upholstery for the outdoor spaces is available in Brabus Graphite, Brabus Red or Brabus Pearl, giving owners additional opportunities for personalization.
The aft deck has been designed as the primary social hub. Folding side platforms expand the beam from 18.4 feet to an impressive 24.9 feet, creating a significantly larger entertaining area. Transformer sunpads convert into upright seating, while an extendable carbon-fiber dining table, electric barbecue, wet bar and integrated preparation stations make the space equally suited for relaxed afternoons or lively gatherings. At the bow, a separate sunpad offers another private place to unwind.
Inside, the saloon borrows heavily from the world of Brabus supercars. Moonstone Masterpiece leather, the brand’s signature Triangle stitching, Alcantara headlining and exposed carbon-fiber trim define the contemporary interior. Illuminated Brabus floor logos, customizable ambient lighting and a dedicated widescreen navigation interface reinforce the premium atmosphere.
A fully equipped galley includes an induction cooktop, electric oven, refrigerators, ice makers and integrated storage, while a 43-inch television rises electrically from the countertop and retracts when not in use. A Bowers & Wilkins Marine Series sound system completes the onboard entertainment.
Owners can choose between two accommodation layouts. The standard configuration includes a master suite, VIP cabin and crew cabin for four guests and one crew member, while an alternative arrangement replaces the VIP layout with three guest cabins, increasing capacity to six guests plus one crew member. Supported by a 10.5 kW generator, 1,500-liter fuel tank, 330-liter freshwater capacity and a Category B-12/C-20 classification, the Brabus Ultima 55 combines long-range practicality with the bold styling and performance credentials that have become synonymous with the Brabus name.
