After Rafael Nadal, it is now superstar Carlos Alcaraz who is looking forward to some much-needed time to himself on the water. The professional tennis player has sealed a deal with Polish yard Sunreef Yachts for a new catamaran from its Sunreef ULTIMA 88 series. Like Nadal, the Spanish world No. 1 will soon be unwinding on a fully customized 88-foot catamaran with watersports access, generous social spaces, and a sprawling owner’s suite.
At just 22, Alcaraz has made a choice that feels driven less by status and more by serenity. The Sunreef ULTIMA line seems perfectly suited to the kind of rejuvenation an elite athlete seeks. In his own words, the vessel will help him “switch off.” Alcaraz shared, “I just loved how comfortable it was, the space and the stability. I think it isn’t comparable to anything else.” He added, “Building with them gives me confidence that this will be the perfect yacht to unwind and recharge. I feel that Sunreef and I share the same dynamic spirit. We are a great match.”
According to Boat International, the latest addition to the yard’s portfolio comes with an Ocean Lounge aft, paired with a garage, hydraulic platform, and opening side terraces. This is where the fun begins, creating a waterside playground for toys and watersports. The owner’s suite sits on the main deck, flooded with natural light and complemented by a large bathroom with a bathtub, while guests are accommodated across four cabins. Inside, the aesthetic is kept unfussy, minimalist, and effortlessly elegant.
For a sportsperson constantly in motion, the catamaran also offers plenty of spaces to slow down, including a top-deck relaxation zone with a spa tub. Above, the flybridge is dedicated to leisure and al fresco dining, making the yacht feel as much like a floating retreat as a high-performance vessel. For the young tennis sensation, who won his fifth Grand Slam title by the age of 22, the connection to boating runs deeper than luxury.
He has said his earliest memory of life on the water goes back to childhood summers on his uncle’s boat in Fuerteventura, where family and friends would spend days moving from place to place and staying onboard. That memory makes this purchase feel more personal than performative.
The catamaran can be configured with either a traditional diesel propulsion system or a hybrid setup that allows for emissions-free cruising. It can also be fitted with a solar skin to generate clean energy, all while offering a top speed of up to 26 knots. For Alcaraz, this is not just another luxury acquisition. It is a private escape, a place built for recharging between the pressures of life at the very top of world tennis.
