When you get to the upper echelons of the car-collecting community, you tend to find similarities. Take billionaire collector Manny Khoshbin, for example. With a garage filled with some of the most expensive and rare supercars and hypercars, it takes a special touch to truly personalize a multi-million dollar exotic.
In this case, that special special touch comes courtesy of French luxury fashion house Hermès. Khoshbin also owns a one-off Pagani Huayra and a Bugatti Chiron customized by Hermès. Now, his Speedtail by Hermès is off to another collector based in Japan who can’t get enough of the fashion brand and supercars.
Yusaku Maezawa is a Japanese billionaire whose Hermès edition luxury wheels include the Rolls-Royce Phantom Oribe and a Bugatti Veyron. There’s no word on the price tag on the Speedtail sold. Considering the car was the 24th of only 106 produced, and said to be the most expensive Speedtail made, expect a higher than-market average.
Khoshbin noted that the reason he’s selling his prized possession is because he got an offer he couldn’t refuse. Following earlier updates from the mogul, it seems he wasn’t happy with the car’s performance and wireless charger issues, which have since been remedied.
As a reminder, the McLaren Speedtail retailed for just over $2 million when new, with used prices going up to $3.7 million. Luckily for the Japanese collector, this Speedtail also comes with the customary personalized luggage and gold tool kit, that harks back to the golden tools bundled with the original McLaren F1.
Khoshbin’s Speedtail by Hermès features a beautiful spec inside and out, with blue paint and Hermès branding across the sides of the car. The luxurious white interiors go with the spaceship theme of the 3-seater McLaren. Of course, the Speedtail’s 1,035 horsepower hybrid powertrain backs up that theme. We’re sure Khoshbin’s next purchase will be something as headline-worthy of his usual garage purchases.
