Entrepreneur Manny Khoshbin became the second North American Bolide owner to take delivery of his $5 million Bugatti racecar recently. The real estate mogul was in for a bit of a shock at the time of delivery, with the company rep advising him against starting the car as it lacked onboard fans and could overheat at low speeds. However that didn’t stop the millionaire from firing up the engine and driving it into his garage. Of course, he didn’t stop there. In the latest update on Khoshbin’s Bolide, he’s since taken a quick test drive around his property.
A video shared to Manny Khoshbin’s YouTube channel shows him follow the start procedure, flipping switches and buttons like a true race car, after strapping himself into the six-point race harness.
Also in purpose-built racecar fashion, the Bolide doesn’t have a set of keys to it. Fitting since all 40 owners probably have it under lockdown in their multi-million dollar garages for 364 days of the year. Or at least when they’re not hiring racetracks for private trackdays.
Back to Khoshbin and his 1,600 horsepower Bolide, running on track-only slick tyres, by the way. Considering how long slicks take to heat up and how little traction they have before they’re properly warmed up, Khoshbin does take some liberties with the Bolide as he accelerates up and down the roads around his mansion.
You can see the concentration on his face, and his white-knuckle grip on the Bolide’s yoke steering as he tries to put down all its considerable horses from the 8.0-liter W16 engine. Even the Bolide’s massive carbon brakes need time to reach operating temperature to perform at their best, while the steering has quite a wide turning radius. Essentially, you can watch Manny Khoshbin wrestle around his $5 million racecar for a few minutes and get red in the face in the process.
That hardly means Khoshbin isn’t astounded by it. He even remarked that the Bolide is worth every penny IF you own your own racetrack. Considering the mogul’s net worth, maybe that’s another piece of real estate we can look forward to him adding to his roster.
