By rapidly expanding its Folgore range of electric vehicles, Maserati is doubling down on its efforts to electrify its entire line-up. In fact, the famed Italian manufacturer has announced that it will be an EV-only manufacturer by 2028. Interestingly, it turns out Maserati’s electrification plans are not restricted to just road cars. After introducing the gorgeous GranCabrio Folgore open-top grand tourer, the marque has revealed a matching all-electric powerboat. This makes Maserati the latest high-end automaker to make its foray into watercraft and join the likes of Mercedes, Porsche, and Lamborghini. Called Tridente, the battery-electric 34-footer has been developed in partnership with EV marine company Vita.
Created for day cruising or to serve as a tender for a larger yacht, the Tridente offers a combination of Maserati’s drop-dead gorgeous styling and Vita’s technical expertise in electric powertrains. The sleek vessel appears to be based on Vita’s Lion powerboat concept with Maserati-specific updates.
The pictures released by Maserati show the boat in a striking matte rose gold finish which beautifully accentuates the sleek lines of the vessel. The exterior finish is complimented with a cream-colored interior, while the marque’s signature trident logo appears on the bow. The cockpit has two captain’s chairs and a U-shaped lounge, which can seat up to eight passengers.
The Tridente features a carbon-fiber hull under the stunning rose gold paint. It is powered by a pair of electric motors capable of collectively producing 600hp. Maserati claims the powerboat can reach a top speed of 40 knots (about 46mph). The motors draw power from a 252kWh battery pack, which gives the vessel a range of 43 miles at a cruising speed of 25 knots (~29mph). The battery can be recharged with the help of a DC connection in under one hour. As for the pricing, the Tridente is available for order now with a starting price that converts to roughly $2.6 million at current exchange rates.
