Mercedes-Benz to bring the 2016 G Series to U.S. shores with prices starting at $120,825

Let’s face it, the Mercedes-Benz G Series is probably one of the most unsightly vehicles designed by the German manufacturer. Boxy and more rugged than you’d expect, the car does seem to have found a special place for itself in the hearts of auto-enthusiasts though. Now, Mercedes-Benz is preparing to bring the 2016 G550 model to American shores, complete with a twin turbo 4.0L V8 engine. Though the new engine is a tad smaller than the previously used 5.5L V8, this one does promise to deliver more, producing 416hp and 450lb-ft of torque. The car will come with all-wheel drive, body and ladder frame construction as well as three differential locks. As for the suspension, drivers can chose from sport and comfort modes.

For those who aren’t satisfied with the stock car, Mercedes-Benz will also offer a G63 AMG version. The AMG model packs the twin turbo 5.5L V8, producing 563hp and 560 lb-ft of torque. The top of the line G65 however, comes power-packed with a twin turbo V12 that produces 621hp and 738 lb-ft of torque. While the G550 comes with a price tag of $120,825, the G63 AMG will be priced at $140,825 while the most powerful of them all, the G65, will cost $220,825.
