Mercedes introduces trio of limited edition cars to celebrate 50 years of AMG


This year marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of Mercedes-AMG, the German carmaker’s high performance division, and three special edition models have been built to celebrate this momentous occasion. Destined to be unveiled at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in a few weeks, the trio of anniversary editions will be headlined by the AMG GT C Roadster Edition 50. Joining it at the Mercedes stands are the C63 Cabriolet and C63 S Cabriolet Ocean Blue Edition and the C43 4Matic Coupe and C43 4Matic Cabriolet Night Edition.


Starting with the AMG GT C Roadster Edition 50, a total of 500 units will roll out of the factory with only 50 of them making their way to the US. As far as the hardware of the car is concerned, technically it’s identical the standard AMG flagship. Which means it packs a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 making 550 horsepower and 502 lb-ft of torque. In terms of the special treatments, the special edition boasts a special paint finish in designo Graphite Grey Magno on the outside. On the inside, the AMG Interior Night Package comes standard along with contrasting black and silver theme and plenty of special ‘Edition 50’ badging.

Coming to the C63 Cabriolet and C63 S Ocean Blue Edition, the models are limited to only 150 units worldwide. The 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 remains untouched but the models receive a host of aesthetic upgrades. Both the models will be on offer with a blue fabric roof as well as blue elements in the front bumper, rear diffuser, and wheel caps. It will be available in Designo Cashmere White Magno and Designo Selenite Grey Magno.

Lastly, the C43 4Matic Coupe and C43 4Matic Cabriolet Night Editions receive diamond-themed front grille, matte black 19-inch alloy wheels, black trim on the front splitter, side skirts and rear apron as well as a small trunk lid lip spoiler. There is no word on the pricing as of yet but the orders for all three limited-edition models will be opened on March 6 2017.
