Check out the new first class cabin onboard Switzerland’s famed Glacier express

Switzerland’s is home to some of the most unbeatable sceneries in the world and enabling you to witness it off the rails is the country’s reliable railway system that sojourns millions of travelers across its lengths each year. Following the tradition and bringing you a more premium roll on the Swiss rails is the Glacier Express which will now run the most iconic routes in the country in an upgraded style.

Connecting St Moritz and Zermatt since 1930, the train has been iconic in its own self. The journey connecting St Moritz and Zermatt can now be enjoyed through a newly laid out: Excellence Class. A new edition to the pre-existing second-class carriages and the very comfortable first-class carriages, the Excellence Class comes with a window seat for full panoramic views, a seven-course meal with champagne, access to the Glacier Bar, a gold-plated ceiling compass, a tablet with lots of route information and a concierge at your service!

The facility is available for 19 exclusive passengers at one go and costs a whopping US$693. It traverses along the primary route- covering the awe-inspiring snow resort of St Moritz (and other destinations including the beautiful stretch from Disentis to Andermatt, Oberalp Pass -the highest point of the trip, and the Landwasser Viaduct – a six-arched, 65-metre high feat of engineering excellence) to arrive in the enchanting lap of Zermatt 8 hours later. All said, this probably is what luxury on wheels feels like!
