Dolce and Gabanna to design a Christmas tree for the iconic Claridges hotel in London

This just in! Claridge’s to do Christmas à la D&G. Literally! The luxury London property has roped in Dolce & Gabbana to ooze some festive glamour. “When we think of London, we always think of Claridge’s and its typically English atmosphere, which fascinates us and makes us fall in love with the city every time as if it were the first,” said the designers. This year’s Claridge’s Christmas tree is to be designed by the dynamic duo so expect some fashionable holiday revelry.

“We are delighted to welcome Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana to spread their special Christmas magic in our lobby this year,” said Thomas Kochs, Claridge’s general manager. As expected, it will be an Italian winter at the hotel as the designer duo decks it up in their traditional aesthetic by dousing the Christmas tree in the colors of Southern Italy, festive glasses baubles, and handmade Sicilian puppets. “Both Claridge’s and Dolce & Gabbana are synonymous with timeless glamour, innovative spirit, and traditional family values that are so important at this time of year.”

The luxury Mayfair hotel, however, is no guest to designer glamour. It has earlier collaborated with John Galliano and Alber Elbaz of Lanvin for its iconic Christmas tree. For the Italian designers, on the other hand, this is a chance to celebrate their heredities, “our Christmas tree isn’t only a celebration of Christmas as we celebrate it in Italy, but it’s also a tribute to the artisanal Italian tradition, the same that we love to export worldwide with everything we do.” The tree in Christmas-y question will be unveiled on November 26.
