Breitling has teamed up with Deus Ex Machina to create a retro-themed special edition chronograph

Breitling has announced a partnership with Australian lifestyle brand Deus Ex Machina – a company that was started in 2006 and has had enormous success as a custom motorcycle and surf outfitter. As a part of the collaboration, Breitling has become the official timekeeper of the Deus Swank Rally and co-develop and the two brands have co-design a special edition vintage-inspired timepiece. The Top Time Deus chronograph is inspired by Breitling’s original 1960s edition and is described in the official release as a “true tribute to the nomad spirit.” With racing-inspired design elements, the Top Time Deus chronograph has been created with the objective to appeal “to bikers, boarders or backpackers, all looking for the freedom to explore the world their own way, at their own pace.”

The Breitling Top Time Deus chronograph features a 41mm stainless steel case that is paired to a brown racing-themed calfskin leather strap that will remind you of vintage motorcycle jackets. The classic panda dial gets squircle-shaped chronograph counters along with yellow and orange details, including a lightning bolt-shaped chronograph hand. The dial also features the classic Deus shield logo at 6 o’clock and the brand’s adage ‘In Benzin Veritas’ (Latin for ‘in gasoline, truth’). The caseback is engraved with a retro-looking motorcyclist in rally racer mode by Deus creative director Carby Tuckwell. Powering the timepiece is the watchmaker’s COSC-certified chronometer movement Breitling Caliber 23 that offers a power reserve of 48 hours. The special edition is limited to 1,500 units worldwide and is priced at $4,990, which includes a special gift box, a unique canvas tote bag, and a Deus coffee table book.
