Some people can’t live without their cell phones, some without their wallets, and then others need to have a watch strapped at all times. And for users like that, Breitling has brought the very first wristwatch with a built-in personal locator beacon (PLB). Dubbed as the Emergency II, this high-tech watch comes fitted with a dual-frequency transmitter which is compliant with Cospas-Sarsat international satellite alert system specifications since it works both to alerts people and also offers guide search and rescue missions on the land, sea, and air, its perfect for those into camping, flying, extreme sports or hiking. The watch packs in a rechargeable battery, a miniaturized dual-frequency transmitter, and an integrated antenna system specific to the model for now.
The CospasSarsat chip can transmit frequencies at different power levels (30 mW for 121.5 MHz, and 5 W for 406 MHz, meaning 170 times higher) for 24 hours, even in -20°C. On the watch front, it packs in 12/24-hour analog and digital clocks, 1/100th second chronograph, alarm, timer, second timezone, multilingual calendar, and battery end-of-life indication. The watch also comes with a thermocompensated SuperQuartz movement which Breitling claims is ten times more accurate than standard quartz and chronometer as certified by the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute).
The watch comes enclosed within a 51 mm titanium case and offers three dial color options – black, yellow, or orange. The watches sport a satin-brushed bezel engraved with a compass scale and finished with either a titanium bracelet or rubber strap, whichever you prefer.
