The new Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 126502 has arrived in a Rolesium configuration with a grand feu enamel dial and a rare open caseback

Rolex has unveiled the new Cosmograph Daytona Rolesium 126502 at at Watches & Wonders 2026, which marks a subtle but deliberate shift in how the iconic Swiss manufacturer approaches evolution, as the brand introduces a material-driven narrative under its new “Exceptional Creations” umbrella while keeping the core architecture of its most coveted chronograph firmly intact.

At first glance, the watch appears familiar, anchored in the 40mm Oyster case that has defined the modern Daytona since its 2023 refresh, yet closer inspection reveals a carefully layered exercise in restraint, where steel and platinum are combined in a way Rolex has never attempted before on this model.

The Rolesium construction places Oystersteel at the center of the watch, forming the monobloc middle case and the three-link Oyster bracelet, while platinum is used with precision rather than excess, appearing as a thin ring framing the bezel and again at the caseback. This selective use of precious metal does not overwhelm the watch visually, but it introduces a quiet shift in weight, tone, and positioning, effectively placing the reference 126502 in a space between traditional steel Daytonas and their full platinum counterparts. The case retains its 100-meter water resistance, screw-down pushers, and Triplock crown, maintaining the robustness expected of a modern Rolex sports watch.

The bezel offers one of the most technically intriguing updates, featuring an anthracite Cerachrom insert enhanced with tungsten carbide, which gives the surface a faint metallic sheen rarely seen in ceramic components. Rolex pairs this with a redesigned tachymeter scale that draws inspiration from Daytona models of the 1960s, with horizontally aligned numerals and a more measured visual rhythm that contrasts with the sharper, more contemporary bezels of recent references. The platinum-filled engravings, applied via PVD, add depth without disrupting the monochromatic balance.

The dial is where the watch makes its most confident statement, presenting a full white grand feu enamel surface that abandons the contrasting subdials traditionally associated with the Daytona. Produced through a high-temperature firing process exceeding 800 degrees Celsius, the enamel is applied to ceramic plates before being mounted on a brass base, resulting in a glossy, uniform finish that carries both visual purity and technical complexity. The matching enamel subdials reinforce the sense of cohesion, creating a rare “albino” aesthetic that has previously existed only in prototypes and collector mythology.

Beneath the sapphire caseback sits the caliber 4131, Rolex’s latest-generation chronograph movement, operating at 4 Hz with a 72-hour power reserve and incorporating a column wheel, vertical clutch, Chronergy escapement, and Parachrom hairspring. While the movement itself is not new, its visibility in a predominantly steel Daytona remains noteworthy, enhanced by refined finishing that includes Rolex Côtes de Genève and a skeletonized yellow gold rotor.

The watch is completed with the Oyster bracelet, fitted with an Oysterlock clasp and Easylink extension system, ensuring everyday usability despite its elevated positioning. Priced at approximately $57,800 USD, the Daytona Rolesium 126502 enters the market as an off-catalogue release, which strongly suggests limited availability and controlled distribution. In typical Rolex fashion, scarcity will likely define its trajectory as much as its design, ensuring that this quietly radical Daytona becomes one of the most discussed releases of the year.
