Vacheron CEO Juan-Carlos Torres personally presented the watch to Michael Mann, the director of Miami Vice. In Miami Vice, character Sonny Crocket (played by Colin Farrell) was wearing a Vacheron Constantin Malte Chronograph Perpetual Calendar in Platinum. The director was determined to acquire it for his personal anthology. The platinum case, measures 39mm, has double sapphire crystals, and is water-resistant to 30 meters.
The movement is the manual-wind Vacheron caliber VC 1141QP with 21 jewels, beating at 18,000 bph and a power reserve of 48 hours. It features functions such as hours, minutes, small second, date, days, month, year, moon phase, chronograph minute counter and center seconds register.
