Penfolds collaborates with a French glassmaker for a $185,000 decanter

A new vintage of Australia’s most cherished wine- The Penfolds Grange can now be found in stores. However, this time around it hits the shelves with a newfound (read: newly demanded) companion of its own! That’s right. The Aussie winery recently collaborated with celebrated glassmaker – Saint – Louis to produce a luxe range of decanters for your beloved Grange. The association also marks the French marquee’s first tie-up with a non- European brand since its inception in 1586.

Designed to specially complement the wine’s exquisiteness, the $185,000 decanter is carefully hand-blown and hand-cut using the finest of crystals. Further, inside the arty container, you will find the highly coveted 2012 vintage Penfolds Grange (one of the most sought after wines in the world). Christened as the “Penfolds Aevum Imperial Service Ritual”, the luxury casing is about 1 m tall and weighs fifty kgs. Only five of these limited edition decanters will be made available for Grange lovers all over.

However, millennials who find the above container too pricey can opt for the $2100 Aevum crystal decanter, which is also crafted by Saint-Louis and comes with a 750ml bottle of the 2012 Grange. Both of the variants were recently unveiled at the Magill Estate Winery that is home to the Penfolds Grange in South Australia. For earnest purveyors of wine (and art) in the world, a limited edition diamond-cut decanter like this is surely worth a buy!
