American Airlines is offering one lucky frequent flyer the ultimate flight deck experience with the Boeing 787 simulator auction

American Airlines is offering aviation enthusiasts a rare opportunity to command a Boeing 787 Dreamliner flight simulator through an exclusive miles-based auction. The four-hour simulator experience, available only to AAdvantage members, represents a unique chance for travelers to step into the flight deck of one of the world’s most advanced commercial aircraft.

The package includes more than just simulator time. Winners will enjoy a two-night stay at the upscale Thompson Dallas hotel, complete with a $100 food and beverage credit and transportation between the hotel and American’s training facility in Fort Worth, Texas. The experience is designed for the winning bidder and a guest, with the session scheduled for July 10-12, 2025.

Inside the full-motion simulator, participants will receive one-on-one instruction from a professional pilot who will guide them through preflight procedures before taking the controls. The experience offers a choice of virtual routes, including scenic flights over Mount Rainier after departing Seattle or approaches into Miami during sunset. Winners will perform takeoffs, landings, and experience the same training environment used by American’s professional pilots.

According to American Airlines, this “first-of-its-kind” opportunity showcases the carrier’s commitment to offering unique redemption options beyond traditional flight awards. The auction represents a growing trend among airlines to create experiential rewards that build brand loyalty while providing memorable opportunities for frequent flyers.

Bidding for the simulator package is currently underway through Mastercard’s Priceless platform, with the auction closing on May 18 at 11:59 pm CT. At last report, the highest bid stood at 600,000 AAdvantage miles, though this figure is expected to rise significantly as the deadline approaches.

Eligibility requirements specify that bidders must be AAdvantage Mastercard cardmembers aged 18 or older with a valid World of Hyatt membership established at least two weeks before check-in. Any accompanying guest must be at least 12 years old to participate in the simulator experience.

While the package includes local transportation and accommodation, winners will need to arrange their own travel to and from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. Once notified via email, successful bidders will have 48 hours to accept the terms and sign a required waiver.

For aviation enthusiasts unable to secure the winning bid, industry experts suggest monitoring American’s AAdvantage program for future similar offerings, as airlines increasingly look to develop exclusive experiential rewards that cannot be purchased through traditional channels.
