Four years after debuting the Summit 2 smartwatch, Montblanc has finally revealed its successor – Summit 3. What makes the luxury smartwatch special is that it’s the first non-Samsung wearable running Wear OS 3, the newest version of Google’s wrist-worn operating system. The Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, which were released last year, were the only two smartwatches until now to be running on the latest smartwatch operating system by Google. Representing the most significant update in years, Wear OS 3 promises better battery life, improved load times, and smoother animations in comparison to Wear OS 2. Additionally, the premium watch is powered by the Snapdragon Wear 4100+ chipset. Other hardware specifications include a 1.28-inch AMOLED high-resolution display, 8GB of internal storage, a heart rate sensor, NFC, and more.
“The Montblanc Summit 3 smartwatch takes luxury smart watchmaking to new heights, pairing premium materials with all the functionalities our clients need as they navigate their day more seamlessly and effectively. The personalization options are also extensive as to reflect different style identities,” said Nicolas Baretzki, Montblanc CEO.
The classical round case of the watch is made out of titanium and is designed to look similar to the mechanical watches in Montblanc’s product line-up. The Summit 3 will be available in three different versions: titanium grey case paired with black calf and blue rubber straps, titanium black case paired with black calf and black rubber straps, and titanium bicolor case paired with a Montblanc Extreme 3.0 British green calf leather strap and black rubber straps. The luxury brand has also created new watch faces for the Summit 3 that are inspired by Montblanc’s traditional watchmaking heritage, such as the Geosphere, Bohème, or 1858 watch faces.
Montblanc Summit 3 gets the typical set of smartwatch features. Health and exercise tracking on the new smartwatch has been improved, which includes step tracking, sleep monitoring, blood oxygen measurement, and workout tracking. Google also offers its usual services such as Google Assistant, Google Maps, Google Pay, and more. The Montblanc Summit 3 will be launched globally on July 15th and it will carry a price tag of €1,250 (roughly $1,300).
