If this article had a sound, it would start with hushed silence, the pause that froze me the instant I saw the world’s most exquisite lipstick. Dior’s limited-edition version of its Rouge Premier looks ravishing, encased in a mesmerizing jewel-clad case. At first glance, it resembles a jewel plucked from a queen’s trove. The urge is not merely to slick its sumptuous red across the lips but to wear the lipstick itself.

Thankfully, Victoire de Castellane, Artistic Director of Dior Joaillerie, joined forces with the house’s artisans to transform the refillable tube into a pendant, suspending it from a dainty yet scene-stealing necklace bursting with color. Although Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director of Dior Makeup, rightfully earns praise for developing 12 hibiscus- and jojoba-infused shades laced with 24-carat gold micro-particles, I’m even more captivated by the kaleidoscope of gemstones that turns this lipstick into a jewel within a jewel.

A garden of gorgeousness featuring flowers in every vibrant shade, leaves of varied shapes, and even a few cutesy ladybugs is brought to life with the choicest materials. Pearls and gemstones like tourmalines, turquoise, opals, diamonds, pink sapphires, and rubies, with the magical addition of lacquer, render the sautoir-style necklace an heirloom piece.

Dior had fans drooling on social media over this radiant, one-of-a-kind creation. “I’d start wearing red lipstick again, just to wear this,” swooned one Instagram commenter, while another dubbed it “the lipstick of my dreams,” and a third quipped, “This piece of art belongs in a museum, but I’d rather keep it around my neck.”
