While his father, Asia’s richest man Mukesh Ambani, moves around in a fleet of bulletproof Mercedes-Benz S680 Guard limousines, his son Anant likes to be driven around in a rare Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe, worth $1.1 million

The Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe is one of the rarest series production models to be made by the iconic British marque in the modern era. While all motorcars featuring the legendary Rolls-Royce emblem are anything but ordinary, the two-door Phantom with a foldable fabric top is truly special. The Phantom Drophead Coupe is such an attention magnet that it effortlessly manages to stand out even when it is surrounded by some of the most expensive luxury cars in the world. Anant Ambani, the son of Asia’s richest man, Mukesh Ambani, was recently spotted in one of these stunning automotive creations. A Mumbai-based car spotter who goes by the name CS 12 Vlogs on YouTube managed to capture it on video.

The entire Ambani family is known for its love for rare and exotic cars. The family members always prefer to travel around in a massive convoy of uber-expensive vehicles. Even the security personnel protecting them drive around in highly desirable luxury SUVs, including several Mercedes-AMG63s and Range Rover Vogues. It’s an absolute spectacle to watch these stunning automobiles move together, which can also be seen in the YouTube video.

While the 11-minute-long video begins with spotting supercars on the streets of Mumbai, it quickly transitions to clips of the Ambani family convoy. Right at the beginning, a Bentley Flying Spur can be seen accompanied by a group of Range Rover and Discovery 4 security cars. The video then proceeds to a green-colored Bentley Bentayga SUV carrying Akash Ambani, Mukesh Ambani’s elder son. After showing a few more exotic vehicles owned by the Ambanis, the video finally moves to the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe, which is finished in a classy white hue on the outside and features a deep-red fabric roof along with chrome wheels.

The Phantom Drophead Coupe belongs to Anant Ambani, and he has been spotted being driven around in this particular car on multiple occasions, according to CarToq. Interestingly, this particular example is one of 6 Phantom Drophead Coupes that exist in India. Reportedly priced at 90 million Indian rupees (around $1.1 million), it’s still one of the most expensive convertibles to be sold in India. Anant clearly has a taste for rare and uber-expensive things. You might remember that he was spotted wearing a $9 million Patek Philippe last year. In fact, Anant is also an avid collector of watches, and his personal collection includes some of the most expensive and rare timepieces. A few days back, he was seen wearing a $6 million Richard Mille 56-01 Tourbillon Green Sapphire watch.

Coming back to the jaw-dropping Rolls-Royce, the Phantom Drophead Coupe debuted in 2007. Based on the 2003 Phantom, the styling of the two-door coupe was heavily influenced by the 100EX concept car that was first showcased in 2004. It was the most expensive Rolls-Royce in the British company’s history when it was discontinued in 2016. The 4-seat convertible is powered by a 6.8-litre V12 turbocharged engine that is capable of producing 563 horsepower and 627 lb.-ft of torque. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph. The one owned by Anant is a Series 2 model which debuted at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

Mukesh Ambani’s love for unpretentious luxury
With a personal net worth of more than $100 billion, Mukesh Ambani is currently the richest man in Asia. However, the Indian business tycoon prefers to be modestly dressed and personally stays away from attention-grabbing things. Usually seen wearing a simple half-sleeve shirt and trousers, Mukesh Ambani feels comfortable wearing a discontinued Rolex watch for ladies worth $8500. The choice of his cars also highlights his personal preference for being unpretentious and discreet. While his family members prefer dazzling cars with a lot of customization, the billionaire chooses to travel in a Mercedes-Benz S680 Guard limousine. While the flagship bulletproof limo is not an ordinary car by any measure, it surely doesn’t attract as much attention as a Rolls-Royce or a Bentley. Mukesh Ambani loves the German luxury sedan so much that his fleet includes seven of them, each worth $1.2 million.
