Pick a side, Mr. Centibillionaire! Bill Gates defends his frequent use of private jets! The Microsoft co-founder says ‘he is not part of the problem but a part of the solution’.

Bill Gates may not have gone green, but he indeed went bold! While most jet-hopping celebrities ditch and dodge statements when the world taunts and prods them regarding their carbon footprint, Gates has gone gun-blazing into clearing the air (only literally). “I spend billions of dollars on … climate innovation,” Gates stated matter of factly in a BBC interview. “So, you know, should I stay at home and not come to Kenya and learn about farming and malaria?” Clearly, one of the world’s most productive carbon offsetters is in no mood to change his air-ways and confidently defended himself on being called a hypocrite for using a private jet to travel around the world.

The centibillionaire pointed out, “Well, I buy the gold standard of, funding Climeworks, to do direct air capture that far exceeds my family’s carbon footprint.” He continued, “I’m comfortable with the idea that not only am I not part of the problem by paying for the offsets, but also through the billions that my Breakthrough Energy Group is spending, that I’m part of the solution.” Not many agree with what Bill Gates has expressed, and I am almost certain Elon Musk might just be part of that group.

Musk didn’t shy away from commenting a few months ago about how Gates’ claims to care about the environment aren’t backed up by action. Jack Sweeney, the jet-tracking teen who must be busy studying now that Elon Musk suspended Elonjet, would also have much to say on the subject. Celebrities like Musk, Drake, Kim Kardashian, Mark Cuban, and Kylie Jenner have also faced global criticism for their careless and avoidable use of private jets.
