France currently hosts both the world’s largest sailing superyacht, the $500 million Koru, docked in La Ciotat, and the world’s fourth-richest man, Jeff Bezos, along with his wife, Lauren Sánchez, not in La Ciotat but in the country’s haute-couture capital, Paris. It feels like a reunion of the ravishing, as the 417-foot sailing stunner Koru has slipped into La Ciotat for end-of-season service, the nautical equivalent of a five-star spa, while the billionaire power couple enjoys prime seats at Chanel’s Spring 2026 show inside the Grand Palais. Though not together, their presence in France at the same time surely puts the country on the map as the playground of the rich and famous.
Lauren Sánchez and Jeff Bezos made heads turn at the Chanel debut of creative director Matthieu Blazy, taking their thrones in one of the week’s most star-packed front rows. The show itself was surreal, featuring a suspended solar system with Saturn and a blazing sun orbiting above twin runways, but it was the Amazon founder, worth $234 billion, and his helicopter-flying wife who truly commanded attention.
Sánchez looked resplendent in a black-and-white Chanel rosette halter maxi, while the tech tycoon embraced a refreshed look, an all-black suit layered over a fitted sweater, finished with blue-tinted sunglasses and a salt-and-pepper beard.
The newly married couple, who tied the knot in June in Venice, rubbed shoulders with A-listers such as Nicole Kidman, Margot Robbie, Kendall Jenner, Penélope Cruz, and Pedro Pascal. Whether they will head to Koru next or back home remains unknown.
The Oceanco megayacht has been in La Ciotat since mid-September, undergoing refit and maintenance. While the south handles the hardware, the capital handles the couture. And though Bezos and Sánchez created quite a buzz at the Chanel show, her Paris bachelorette earlier this year was an even bigger spectacle, complete with a glamorous Seine cruise, rooftop soirées at Cheval Blanc, and a guest list featuring Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Katy Perry, and Eva Longoria that stole global headlines.
