Many people have already made up their minds about the space-faring Amazon founder Jeff Bezos calling him ‘evil’ and comparing him to Superman villain Lex Luthor. If Bezos has his way, then soon, many of his ultra-rich peers will continue to remain so…alive and thriving! Bezos and Yuri Milner are reportedly keen on funding a startup biotechnology firm to discover a way to reverse aging. Altos Labs was roped in to study the potential of cell reprogramming technology to turn back the clock in animals, and potentially, humans.

They have roped in stalwarts like Dr. Shinya Yamanaka as an unpaid advisor on Altos’ scientific advisory board. They also have onboard Spanish biologist Dr. Juan Carlos Izpisua Belmonte, known for his research into cell switching. The third dignitary joining the team that will make us humans live longer and looking younger is Dr. Steve Horvath. He developed markers, which can accurately measure aging in humans and animals. Many intelligent men share the dream that, if only spearheaded by Bezos, will be termed as an evil scheme.

But Dr. Manuel Serrano, from the Institute for Research in Biomedicine, also joining, said, ‘The aim is to understand rejuvenation. ‘I would say the idea of having revenue in the future is there, but it’s not the immediate goal.’ The technology is still in nascent stages, and l far too risky to be tried out on people. No points for guessing if these age-reversing powers of biological reprogramming ever become available to humans; Jeff Bezos will obviously be first on the list and happy to extend his life by 50 odd years to make more money and live for a century as the wealthiest human ever.
