Not only did the well-dressed lookalikes of Jeff Bezos and his jet-setting fiancée, Lauren Sánchez, stroll the Cannes red carpet and fool the paparazzi; they even duped major newspapers into running photo-filled features on the “couple”

Everyone wants to be in Jeff Bezos’s shoes, thanks to his staggering $220 billion fortune, according to Forbes. And many wouldn’t mind slipping into fiancée Lauren Sánchez’s stilettos either, given her drop-dead gorgeous looks and the billionaire she’s arm-in-arm with.
But things got hilariously literal at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival last week when doppelgängers of the Amazon founder and his helicopter-flying ladylove strutted down the red carpet. Amusingly, no one knows whether they were actual invitees who just happened to be uncanny lookalikes of the buff 61-year-old tech tycoon and his svelte soon-to-be Mrs. Bezos, or opportunists banking on their eerie resemblance.

According to TMZ, the latter seems more likely, as the pair, who stirred up quite a frenzy at the premiere of Dossier 137, vanished shortly after their red carpet moment. Whether their goal was a few minutes of fame, an expertly pulled-off prank, or a genuine (if short-lived) attempt to attend the Cannes Film Festival remains unclear. Either way, they certainly snagged the spotlight, and perhaps more of it than they bargained for. What could be even more entertaining? If this lookalike duo shows up at another event and ends up crossing paths with the real billionaire and his glamorous fiancée. That could turn into a true ‘Bald and the Beautiful’ showdown.

Jeff and Lauren are expected to attend Cannes soon, as the 55-year-old founder of Black Ops Aviation is set to receive the 2025 Global Gift Women Empowerment Award at the Global Gift Foundation charity gala. Seeing real-life doubles of the world-famous power couple must’ve been surreal, and the confusion quickly went viral. Even El Mundo, a leading Spanish publication, featured a photo of “Bogus Bezos” and “Scam Sánchez” on its official website.
