While the women of the world get unmatched joy from shopping at Zara, the president of Inditex, Marta Ortega, has shopped for the world’s fastest private jet. It’s been a year since the 40-year-old took the helm of Zara’s parent company, and the entrepreneur, who globetrots for her job, decided to do it in style—and fast—with the Gulfstream G650ER.
She is the youngest daughter of Zara founder Amancio Ortega, and, like her father, a tycoon worth $111 billion, isn’t recognized for an extravagant lifestyle. However, apart from the new $65 million private jet and her father’s $300 million Drizzle superyacht, delivered by Dutch yacht-building company Feadship in July this year, they are known to be a grounded family.
The fashion heiress joins the list of bigwigs like Oprah Winfrey, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Laurene Powell Jobs, and others who own this machine. It is known that 560 units of the Gulfstream G650ER are in service, a model that boasts more than 125 world speed records.
Zara was started by Amancio Ortega and Rosalia Mera in 1975, and their first shop was in central A Coruña, in Galicia, Spain. As of January 2023, the clothing retailer has nearly 3,000 stores, spanning over 96 countries and growing. A private jet does make sense for the fashion heiress, who has a lot on her plate.
The aircraft allows Ortega to fly non-stop from her headquarters in Arteixo, Spain to New York, California, or even closer home to France and Italy without stops. Inside, the gorgeous Gulfstream G650ER can accommodate up to 22 passengers. The sophisticated cabin is divided into three distinct areas priving its owner with personal space. The businesswoman can get a lot done while in transit. Thanks to Gulfstream’s advanced clean air system, one feels fresh even during long haul flights. There is plenty of great view on the aircraft touted to be the quietest in business aviation with 16 panoramic oval windows. The vistas can be enjoyed while seated on comfortable sofas which also convert into beds.
