Roger Federer has been out of action since last year’s Wimbledon after suffering a knee injury and opting to undergo surgery. However, the record eight-time Wimbledon champion returned to the All England Club in London to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Center Court. Joining Federer was a starry lineup of tennis legends past and present, including Billie Jean King, Andy Murray, Margaret Court, Venus Williams, Martina Hingis, Bjorn Borg, and Rod Laver. While everyone was excited to see the 40-year-old tennis legend return to the Center Court, we noticed a special timepiece on Federer’s wrist that quickly grabbed our attention. The Swiss tennis legend has been a brand ambassador for Rolex since 2006 and is often spotted wearing some of the rarest and most exclusive models. The one Roger had on his wrist at the recent event is even more exceptional. It’s a brand-new off-catalog Rolex Cosmograph Daytona ‘Orange’.
The eye-catching bejeweled version of the highly coveted Rolex chronograph features an 18ct yellow gold case which is encrusted with 32 baguette-cut orange sapphires on the bezel. Unlike the recently launched Rolex Daytona Orange Sapphires Ref. 116578SACO which has a mother of pearl dial studded with diamonds, this version has a black dial with 11 baguette-cut orange sapphire hour markers. Furthermore, the watch is paired with an Oysterflex strap. Being an off-catalog piece, the particular model is not officially listed anywhere on Rolex’s website, nor is it on display in boutiques. For the same reason, it doesn’t have an official price tag either. But the exclusive Rolex is rumored to be worth around $87,000. The watch is exclusively available to Rolex’s most important customers and brand ambassadors.
