Gucci unveils a new collection that is fully inspired by Donald Duck

There is good news round the corner for those who ardently followed the beloved cartoon character – Donald Duck. In fact, we hardly know of anyone who isn’t already in love with yellow-beaked cutie. Barring the few un-known who beg to differ here, Gucci is out with a new capsule collection that is completely circled around Disney’s favorite icon – Donald duck.

Curated by Alessandro Michele in association with the marquee, the full capsule forms part of the Spring 2017 collection and includes t-shirts, hoodies, crewneck sweaters, a leather varsity jacket, knitwear and sneakers. While the t-shirts and the knitwear are anticipated to be the top-selling items, we personally find the sweat-pieces and jackets as the most-outstanding in the lot. While the leather varsity jacket appears to be finely detailed piece with some exquisite side detailing, the sweat shirts in the collection showcase superbly embroidered Donald Duck, Gucci and Serapis appliqués in a crew neck. They further include rib trims and small holes in the fabric that give it a befitting vintage effect.

This isn’t the first time we have seen a cartoon- inspired collection by Gucci. Early last year, the marquee teamed up with Disney for its Peanuts ensemble. In fact, a number of global brands are currently cashing up on this trend. The Donald Duck capsule can currently be viewed and purchased from Gucci’s online store at a starting price of £795.
