In an unexpected partnership that bridges luxury watchmaking with athletic performance, TAG Heuer and New Balance have unveiled a coordinated release featuring the Connected Calibre E5 smartwatch and the FuelCell SuperComp Elite v5 running shoe. The collaboration represents a meeting point between Swiss precision engineering and American sports innovation, targeting serious runners who value both technology and design.

The Connected Calibre E5 represents TAG Heuer’s fifth generation of smartwatch development, encased in a 40mm black DLC-coated titanium shell. The lightweight construction houses dual-band GPS technology, heart rate monitoring capabilities, and blood oxygen tracking, all powered by TAG Heuer’s proprietary operating system. A distinctive feature includes a 0 to 100 scale on the dial that synchronizes directly with training metrics from the companion app, offering runners real-time performance feedback during workouts.

What sets this release apart is the integrated approach to training. The watch comes preloaded with six structured running programs developed by New Balance coaches, covering distances from 5K preparation through half-marathon training and strength conditioning. Once synced, athletes can leave their phones behind while the watch provides step-by-step guidance, including pace alerts, interval timing, and distance tracking. Post-run data automatically uploads for long-term progress monitoring and recovery analysis.

The partnership extends beyond functionality into aesthetic unity. Both products share a striking violet and green color scheme, with the deep purple tone inspired by English Purple and vibrant green accents creating visual cohesion. The watch strap incorporates an innovative Cushion Comfort System that combines rubber with textile material actually sourced from the shoe’s inlay, creating a tactile connection between the two products. Custom watch faces named Casual, Balance, and Reskin reflect the collaboration’s signature colors and provide varying levels of data display.

The FuelCell SuperComp Elite v5 brings race-day technology to the collaboration. Built around a full-length carbon fiber plate sandwiched between layers of PEBA-based foam, the shoe delivers explosive energy return with each stride. At just over 200 grams, it maintains an 8mm heel drop and 40mm stack height, balancing substantial cushioning with ground responsiveness. The engineered mesh upper ensures breathability during extended efforts, while the rocker geometry actively propels runners forward.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, the two-time Olympic champion and world record holder who represents both brands, fronts the campaign. Her involvement underscores the performance credentials both companies aim to project.

The Connected Calibre E5 retails at 1,950 Swiss francs (about $2,500), while the FuelCell SuperComp Elite v5 is priced at $270. Both items will be available in limited quantities through TAG Heuer and New Balance retail channels globally, though exact production numbers remain undisclosed. Each purchase includes co-branded packaging, and the watch comes with an additional stretch textile strap featuring New Balance embroidery.
