Yaay!! – Versace will soon ban the use of fur from all its collections

The one thing about fashion that is forever confusing for animal lovers is the use of fur. Their rationale being that the coat of a dead animal should be deemed as inhumane instead of fashionable. And I quite agree. Sharing the same thoughts, is Donatella Versace, who recently introduced a ban on the use of fur from her collections.

“Fur? I am out of that,” Versace said in an earlier statement. “I don’t want to kill animals to make fashion. It doesn’t feel right.” This happens to be quite a bold move for a fashion house that has predominantly promoted fur up until their last autumn collection. From mink to raccoon dogs, Versace has used furs across its collections in the past. However, its recent ban is well welcomed by many including the Humane Society International (HSI), which campaigns globally for an end to the fur trade.Per HSI, “Versace is a massively influential luxury brand that symbolizes excess and glamour, and so its decision to stop using fur shows that compassionate fashion has never been more on trend.”

Earlier in the decade, fashion labels such as Armani, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss and Ralph Lauren too have also ditched the use of fur completely from their ensembles. Although, organizations such as the International Fur Federation aren’t too delighted with the altering trends of the fashion industry, animal lovers like us are all for these winds of change!
