Called Prêt-à-Portea, London’s Berkley hotel’s fashionable twist to the classic elements of the traditional English afternoon tea has just launched its Spring/Summer 2014 collection.

According to the hotel’s website, the collection is inspired by “this season’s print craze of grids, triangles, concentric circles”. If you ask me, Miu Miu’s exotic-skin tote bag with chocolate pecan moelleux and Dsquared mini strapless mango bavarois dress with a blueberry compote topped with hot pink lampshade hat, give the originals tough competition.

Stepping out in style also this summer is Christian Louboutin’s Pigalle Spike heel in a chocolate biscuit avatar, with fresh turquoise hue icing and of course, the signature red sole. And who can miss the Karla Colletto lemon biscuit swimsuit with cherry red icing and pretty rosette-appliquéd neckline! Talk about mouth-watering fashion. Other designers that made the cut, so to speak, include Dsquared, Alberta Ferreti, Victoria Beckham, Simone Rocha, Emilia Wickstead and Oscar de La Renta.

All these creative treats come with a selection of miniature savory skewers, taster spoons, elegant canapés and tea sandwiches. The Berkley’s designer afternoon tea menu, much akin to trend, is transformed every six months, unlike the Jimmy Choo inspired afternoon tea at Munich’s Mandarin Oriental. Couture Champagne Prêt-à-Portea, with a glass of Laurent-Perrier Rosé, Bollinger Rosé or Ruinart blanc de blancs
is priced at £57 ($96) per person. The stylish service is available everyday between 1 and 5.30 pm.
