Asians no longer need to travel to the US to indulge in Playboy-ish activities. Macao is dubbed as the Las Vegas of China and Playboy has hit upon this location to open a Playboy-inspired multi-faceted entertainment destination. Named Playboy Mansion Macao, the approximate 40,000 square-foot entertainment site will consist of numerous nightlife and entertainment options, dining, specialty retail elements, and a Hugh M. Hefner Villa, which will be a part of the Macao Studio City complex ($2 billion joint venture project) that broke ground earlier this year. The new venue follows the Playboy Club Casino at the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas which opened in October.
However, there are Playboy concept stores in Bangkok, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, and Tokyo. But nothing on this large a scale. Moreover, it is known that Macao with a population of 500,000 is the closest location for the 1.3 billion people in China to gamble legally in casinos.
