Montegrappa is celebrating 60 years of the Lamborghini Miura, the world’s most beautiful supercar, with a limited-edition pen featuring a working pop-up headlight

Few cars have managed to make the passage of six decades seem almost irrelevant to their beauty, but the Lamborghini Miura remains one of them. First unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 1966, the Italian supercar helped redefine what a high-performance automobile could look like, combining a mid-mounted V12 engine with sculptural bodywork that continues to captivate enthusiasts today. Now, as the Miura celebrates its 60th anniversary, Italian luxury penmaker Montegrappa is paying tribute to the automotive icon with a limited-edition collection of fountain pens and rollerballs that translates its most distinctive design elements into an object made for the desk rather than the road.

Called the Automobili Lamborghini Miura: Lines in Lasting Motion, the collection draws inspiration from the car’s flowing proportions, mechanical details and unmistakable personality. The collaboration is more than an exercise in automotive branding, with the pen incorporating several features that directly reference the original Miura. Its finial recalls the engine louvres, while the clip and cap ring feature details inspired by the car’s air vents.

The most unusual touch is a miniature pop-up headlight integrated into the cap, crafted from rock crystal and mounted on an engraved base. A tactile push-button mechanism recreates the movement of the Miura’s celebrated headlights, bringing one of the car’s defining visual signatures to an unexpectedly small canvas.

The fountain pen features an 18-karat gold nib finished with ruthenium plating and an ebonite feed, while the aluminium barrel is available in three colors inspired by the original car’s configurations: Fly Yellow, Miura Green and Black. An engraved Automobili Lamborghini shield reinforces the connection between the two creations, and each writing instrument arrives in a presentation case inspired by the Miura’s interior, combining lacquered wood and genuine leather. The packaging is designed to complement the collectible nature of the instrument, making the anniversary edition as much an object of display as a practical writing tool.

Rarity is also central to the collection’s appeal. Each of the three colors is limited to 60 fountain pens and 60 rollerballs, bringing total production to 360 writing instruments. The collection’s name also reflects the attempt to preserve the visual energy of a car whose influence extends well beyond its production years. Lamborghini’s team was involved throughout the development process, working with Montegrappa to ensure that the design remained faithful to the Miura while retaining the proportions and comfort expected of a functional pen.

The collection continues a partnership between two Italian companies that previously collaborated on the Automobili Lamborghini 60° writing instruments in 2023. The new Miura edition is scheduled to reach selected jewelry and watch retailers, department stores and Montegrappa’s website in mid-November 2026.

Its official price has not yet been announced yet, although market rumors suggest a possible value of around $10,000. For admirers of the Miura, a car often celebrated as one of the most beautiful ever designed, the collection offers a different way to appreciate its legacy, preserving the spirit of a landmark automobile in a form that can be held, used, and collected.
