As the saying goes, no Bugatti enthusiast’s collection is complete without a Bugatti Baby II. This 75% scale Bugatti is styled after an original 1924 Grand Prix car but is kitted out with a fully electric powertrain with a top speed of 64mph. Production of the Baby II is limited to 500 units worldwide, with pricing starting from $36,000 and going up to nearly $100,000 for the special editions. The company has seemingly just topped the lineup with a one-off model that honors the very spirit of Bugatti’s founder, Ettore Bugatti.
Created as a collaboration with Hedley Studios (formerly The Little Car Company), this Baby II is special enough that one probably shouldn’t even ask about pricing. It’s finished in a dual tone ‘Nocturne’ Black and ‘Giallo Midas’ Yellow, Ettore Bugatti’s favorite color scheme. It’s also a paint scheme that has adorned some of the most famous race cars in Bugatti’s 115-year heritage, such as the Type 57 Grand Raid Usine.
That’s not all, this Baby II also features hand-drawn sketches harking back to Ettore Bugatti’s other passion: horses. The other sketches include other race-winning cars, the Château Saint Jean, the historic home to Bugatti and Ettore Bugatti himself.
The hand behind it all was Bugatti’s in-house manager of Sur Mesure and Individualisation, Jascha Straub, signifying just how much this project means to the company. Being the only one in existence, we wonder which of Bugatti’s well-heeled clientele will snap it up to put the final flourish on his or her collection.
