Jeff Bezos may have splurged $200 million on a 31,000-square-foot penthouse at Aman Beverly Hills, a superyacht in the sky complete with a 65-foot rooftop pool, three garden-wrapped levels, and access to a private club larger than the White House

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is a man worth billions, and if his half-a-billion-dollar superyacht doesn’t emphasize it enough, then maybe his possible brand-new real estate purchase will. Rumor mills are rife with the possibility that Bezos, the world’s third-richest man, may have acquired the six-bedroom, 17,000-square-foot penthouse condo at Aman Beverly Hills. Yes, this is the future upscale Aman hotel, featuring a collection of exclusive Aman-branded residences and an Aman Club. The project spans ten acres of botanical gardens and is scheduled to open in 2028. Priced at an eye-watering $200 million and nearly $12,000 per square foot, it would become the most expensive condo ever sold in L.A. if the deal closes, whether bought by Bezos or any other billionaire.

In the case of this penthouse, with more than 31,000 square feet of combined interior and exterior space, reported The Hollywood Reporter. It is not the billionaire owner who brings the celebrity, but the house itself, which crowns one of the two residential towers. Kerry Hill Architects has left no stone unturned to make the abode feel heavenly atop the 28-story tower, overlooking the Los Angeles Country Club, the Hollywood Hills, Downtown Los Angeles, and the Pacific Ocean.

The Penthouse terrace

Inside, the space is just as palatial, with ceilings reaching 22 feet. The sanctuary bearing a typical Aman aesthetic relies on stone, timber, metal, and muted colors to combine a California mid-century modernism with Aman’s Japanese-influenced restraint. It is beautifully sandwiched between three separate layers of gardens and terraces and has a resort-like feel, owing to a staggering 65-foot swimming pool in the rooftop garden, with a Jacuzzi at one end. Sounds a lot like being on a massive superyacht like the $500 million Koru.

The Aman grounds

Even the outdoor areas are treated with the utmost attention to detail. Fireplaces find their spots outdoors, as do dining terraces, lounges, and yoga decks. Entertainment and recreation belong in a private cinema and, a stone’s throw away, at the hotel, club, spa, restaurants, and elaborate gardens. The owner of this mansion floating atop everything will have privileged access to the 100,000-square-foot Aman Club, billed as the brand’s first standalone club, planned around wellness, dining, fitness, and social spaces.

The Aman hotel and residences are part of One Beverly Hills, which occupies approximately 17.5 acres at Wilshire and Santa Monica Boulevards. The development will make neighbors of the Aman buildings, a refurbished Beverly Hilton, and the existing Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills. Mrs. Bezos’s stylists could venture around the vicinity and find as many as 45 boutiques and restaurants, including Dolce&Gabbana, her personal favorite; Italian delights at Casa Tua Cucina; and Los Mochis, a 12,000-square-foot Mexican-Japanese restaurant with a sake room, agave bar, and omakase experience.

The development will have 10 acres of gardens

Spotting the power couple enjoying themselves here may one day be a lucky coincidence, as their primary residence is, in fact, on Indian Creek Island, and this could be one of their holiday homes. Perhaps the serenity of walking between 2,100 trees, 43,000 shrubs, and nine Southern California landscapes will appeal to the souls of the changemakers behind the Bezos Earth Fund. Yes, the $200 million residence is a class apart and one of only two such offerings by the hotel brand, but it is the entire package that makes it all seem worth every buck, from the two miles of paths, sitting areas, and water features winding through oak ridges, meadows, palm gardens, and coastal-inspired planting, to the fluttering butterflies, hummingbirds, and other pollinators.

It feels as though utopia has been developed after all. The tech titan may or may not close on this $200 million sky palace, but he already holds serious stakes in the neighborhood, 10-acre Jack Warner Estate, acquired for $165 million just minutes away.
