Only Larry Ellison could buy an $80 million Florida beach estate, consider demolishing its mansion, barely use it for five years, then ask $165 million for 8.4 acres, 562 feet of Atlantic frontage and enough room to land a helicopter.

It appears that Oracle billionaire Larry Ellison has lost interest in his oceanfront North Palm Beach, Fla., estate. After buying the property in 2021 for $80 million, the tech tycoon never went through with plans to demolish the Mediterranean-style mansion and left it vacant for the better part of five years. Last year, he intended to sell it for $145 million, but to no avail. Instead of offering a discount, he has listed the lavish Seminole Beach Estate for an even more ambitious price, asking $20 million more than the previous figure.

The 8.4-acre property, located within the tony Seminole Landing gated community, is now asking $165 million. If the billionaire gets his way, this astronomical price would establish a North Palm Beach record, working out to more than $10,000 per square foot and approximately $20 million per acre.

Inside the Seminole Beach Estate

For most people, a real estate listing is about the number of rooms, baths, and square footage, but the selling point of this Ellison-owned mansion is its extraordinary 562 linear feet of direct Atlantic frontage. That is nearly two football fields of ocean frontage for an estate known to be the third-largest oceanfront parcel in Palm Beach County. According to The Wall Street Journal, the home was listed with agents James Kenny and Paul Kaneb of K2 Realty.
Inside, the main residence offers a sprawling 16,284 square feet of interior living space, seven bedrooms, eight full bathrooms, and five half-bathrooms.

Among its luxurious amenities are a swimming pool and spa, a tennis court, landscaped grounds, and uninterrupted Atlantic views. The four-car garage, direct beach access, and a helipad make it an enticing choice for any billionaire, though clearly not enough to keep the 82-year-old Ellison interested.

The Gemini estate

Trading Up for Manalapan

Yes, the billionaire who owns 98% of a Hawaiian island is selling one trophy property, but he is also making his massive ocean-to-Intracoastal estate in Manalapan even larger. At the risk of sounding like an exaggeration, Ellison’s Gemini estate in Manalapan makes this beach house feel like staff quarters. By comparison, the Gemini estate offers a whopping 85,000 square feet, 33 bedrooms, more than twice the Atlantic frontage at 1,200 feet, a seven-bedroom guesthouse, two beachfront cottages, a large pool, a bird sanctuary, and much more. Despite this grandeur, Ellison continues to expand Gemini, acquiring another 2.15 acres beside it for $34.4 million. The departure from the Seminole Beach Estate reads as a logical move for a billionaire worth $184 billion, for whom this estate, even at $165 million, is nothing more than a couple of hours’ worth of work for the University of Chicago dropout.
