Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, are now the owners of a Gothic Revival castle. Their fairytale-like abode, which reportedly cost as much as $35 million, is worth less than one-eighth of Launchpad’s estimated $300 million price tag. Strancally Castle is nestled in picturesque County Waterford, roughly 93 miles southwest of Dublin, where Meta maintains its international headquarters.
The company employs around 1,500 people across Ireland. The humongous estate, spread across 440 acres, perfectly suits Zuckerberg’s massive land-acquisition style. At its heart stands a three-story, cut-stone Gothic Revival house spanning 16,000 square feet, with an imposing exterior complete with battlements, turrets, pointed windows and projecting bays.
According to The Verge, the sandstone construction features limestone ashlar detailing, while inside is a light-oak cantilevered staircase. A 2001 sale listing mentioned 11 principal bedrooms, five of them en suite. For guests, there are four additional bedroom suites in a tower. If the Zuckerbergs feel like throwing a party to toast their time in Ireland, they can put the large reception rooms to use, including an inner hall, dining room, drawing room and library. Thanks to renovations undertaken by previous owners Michael and Giancarla “Gianni” Alen-Buckley, of London investment firm RAB Capital fame, the castle also comes with an indoor swimming pool, croquet lawns and extensive landscaped grounds.
Mark Zuckerberg, Silicon Valley’s fittest CEO, for one, will have no problem navigating the humongous home he purchased a few weeks ago. It is so large that, according to one historical account, it takes four and a half minutes of brisk walking to get from the basement kitchen to the dining room. An annoyance for most, but not for Zuckerberg, who is known for conducting walk-and-talk meetings and probably wouldn’t mind the extra steps here. The castle was built nearly two centuries ago, in 1827. Despite its enormity, its age and the prospect of maintaining 440 acres, it seems the Zuckerbergs found just what they were looking for.
In 2025, Liberty Media billionaire John Malone disclosed that Zuckerberg had tried to buy Castlemartin House and Estate in County Kildare. What did not happen last year finally bore fruit in 2026. “Mark and his family are excited to continue caring for this historic home and look forward to spending time in Ireland, where Meta maintains its international headquarters,” a spokesman said, according to the Daily Mail.
While Zuckerberg has visited Ireland before, a home in the country that houses Meta’s principal international office makes sense for the world’s sixth-richest man, worth an estimated $187 billion. The only Achilles’ heel, he cannot sail into this paradise aboard his superyacht Launchpad. Yes, there is a historic river quay, but it does not have a berth capable of receiving Zuckerberg’s 387-foot Feadship beauty.
