In the past, we have seen Bang & Olufsen team up with Aston Martin, and even the new Audi Q7i, unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show, will be available with B&O’s 3D advanced sound system. Now, the luxury brand now has revealed the “most successful model” to come from its long partnership with BMW. Back in 2010, BMW had showcased a concept 6 series with an advanced B&O sound system. Finally, B&O and BMW have introduced a limited edition variant of new BMW 6 Series model, equipped with B&O’s high-end surround sound system, which includes 16 active loudspeakers (seven tweeters, seven midrange drivers, and two subwoofers), 1200 watts of maximum output (500w dedicated to the two subs), and 5.1 surround sound with DSP distribution. The speakers get special grilles with a black brushed aluminum finish and a pair of BeoPlay H6 headphones with same finish is included as well.
B&O claims the new ‘high-end surround sound system’ will auto-adjust its performance to allow for external and internal noise, using an on-board microphone as part of its Vehicle Noise Compensation (VNC) technology. The system’s drivers even boast 180-degree dispersion, thanks to B&O’s patented Acoustic Lens Technology. The audio system is ensconced in an interior finished in Merino leather complimented by piano black wood trim. The exterior is distinguished by unique paint, in either Brilliant White Metallic or Dark Graphite II Metallic hues. 100 Bang & Olufsen edition models based on the 650i Gran Coupe. Additionally, 10 Bang & Olufsen Edition cars based on the M6 Gran Coupe with Competition Package will also go on sale.
