Eclipse Hands Over Its First Customer VLJ – Very Light Jet

Moving about in luxurious wheels like Mercedes, Maybach, Rolls-Royce or personal Yachts is considered (luxuriously) standard. But be a part of a major event in aviation history by witnessing the delivery of the Eclipse 500, the first customer aircraft by Eclipse Aviation, manufacturer of the world’s first very light jet (VLJ). “Today, as we deliver the first Eclipse 500, our dream of opening up the world of private jet travel to a new realm of customers has become a reality,” said Vern Raburn, president, and CEO of Eclipse Aviation. The first customer Eclipse 500 was delivered to co-owners David Crowe, a private owner, and Jet-Alliance, a shared jet ownership company in Westlake Village, California. In the coming days, Eclipse will hold a delivery ceremony at the company headquarters. The Eclipse 500 will make it possible for those who have only dreamed of owning a jet to actually buy one.

The company has another 37 planes currently on the line and goal of delivering 500 planes before the end of 2007 but with a backlog of 2,500 orders…..when will I stand a chance? The press release confirms that the company’s current facilities are designed to support the production of approximately 1,000 aircraft a year, or four aircraft per day. With new facilities and team members in place, Eclipse is poised to begin ramping production rates too. So it’s not long before every other house in the U.S will own a private jet!
